OPS recently wrapped up our annual food drive sponsored by Washington Student Council. Lincoln School collected an impressive 2,867 total items with Ms. Pearson's 5th grade class donating the most items at 838! Way to go! Washington School collected 653 items and Mrs. Zimmer's 6th grade class donated the most items at 193! Thanks so much to everyone who donated items to support the Illinois Valley Food Pantry!
The first grade students at Lincoln School spent several weeks learning about the human body and they ended their unit yesterday with a "Doctor Day" where they were in operating rooms doing various activities!

Ms. Eustice and Mrs. Zimmer's 8th grade classes joined forces and used their IReady Buddies to partner up and do reading stations. Covering and learning to master the Common Core State Standards for 8th grade proved to be way more fun and engaging with a partner!
Topics of the stations: Pick A Poem, Figurative Lang Sort, What's Your Genre?, What Can You Infer?, Types of Conflit Sort, That's So Ironic?, Main Idea vs Theme, Poetetic Task Card Sort, Literary Tasks, Summarizing and Paraphrasing, Aesop's Fables, Cause and Effect and Ethos, Pathos and Logos.
Ever wonder why her hair is so big? Or feel like you have ESPN or something? Or wish we could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles so everyone could eat and be happy?...audition for the school musical and find out! We are calling for all 6-8 grade students to be part of the fun! The inventor of Toaster Strudel would be pleased to hear about it.
